Surprises aren’t really my thing but I did wanted to try out the StyleTone box
Last month I decided ‘to go wild’ and ordered my very first StyleTone box. On the blog of Hennie from tutje.nl I read about this and I decided it’s really something for me. I love all things beauty related though I always get the same type of products. I do vary in brands and I recently changed my hair rituals to silicone free products, but with beauty products I’m boring.
StyleTone box
So what’s a box like this? Each month you receive a box via the mail and you don’t know what’s inside upfront, how much it’s worth of what it does. What you do know is you will receive 5 full products with a book which tells you how to use it and what’s it for. Another important part is that each item is not tested on animals. I paid €35,- for a 3 month trial and it stops automatically, isn’t that great! The box arrived end of January and the contents are shown on the photo above.
Figs & Rouge Hydra Activ renewal hydra riché night cream
In the land of beauty products I’m not really an expert. For example this is a brand I’ve never heard of before and to be honest, there are more items in the box which are new to me. Lately I’ve been having some difficulties with my skin ever since I tried a mud mask, so I’m nourishing those cheeks like I never did before. This night cream was the first I tried, it’s a nice full cream and it applies nicely. It goes into the skin but has a full body like a night cream supposed to be. It’s also good for those fine lines and at 35 years old I need that crap unfortunately.
Seraphine botanicals guava butter
This is a stick which you can apply on your cheeks as well on the lips, it’s to nourish the skin and to apply some color. This is such a product I never use, I don’t even own one before this box arrived. It reminds me of high school when I used most products from theBodyShop and I remember they had these sticks as well. I’ve tried it on the lips, which is nice and soft though not much color so great for a natural look. For the cheeks I find it too greasy, I don’t like too much liquid make up on the face. Luckily I already have red cheeks myself so this will become a lip balm.
Evelyn Iona lip gloss, lise
An extra lipgloss is always nice, but again a brand I’ve never heard of. These products are all mainly made from organic products, some even up 98%. This is nice to know there isn’t too much rubbish in there. It’s a full, little heavy lipgloss which I like because it feels like you’re actually applying something. It has a nice light gloss but again the color doesn’t really pop, so it’s more a natural fresh tone. It nourishes the lips as well, should also help against fine lines and should plump the lips. Haven’t noticed any of these but it a fine lipgloss nevertheless!
Emité waterproof mascara
A waterproof mascara which is fit for short lashes is what the description says. Mine aren’t really short, I don’t know but it worked fine on my lashes. The brush itself is somewhat simple, old school if you ask me, but it does separate the lashes. At the moment I’m using a really thin brush so compared to that all is different. This waterproof mascara is only for moist or light rain but you can’t wear it to the pool though, it will run. Sorry I haven’t tested it, there was snow today but I didn’t bother to go out! Make sure to use a waterproof make up remover to clean your eyes.
Bellapierre cosmetics fan brush
Finally an items which I know, use regularly and love! This fan brush can be used to apply a sharp line of highlighter or just to contour. I’ve had mine for years already and I mostly use it to brush away excess eyeshadow on the bags of my eyes or loose powder. This brush is only used for powder make up and not for liquid make up by the way.
All together I really liked to receive this box and I’m already looking forward to next months box. These might not all be products I’m using on a daily base, most I will, but it was fun testing them. Also, I’ve learned some new tricks, discovered some new brands and read some nice tips in the booklet which they send along. In the end I’ve paid for one box €11,67 which has a retail value of €121,- so it’s a true bargain!
