A body con dress, trumpet sleeves & pied-de-poule, it was love at first sight! The fashion style of the 1960’s makes my heart go faster
The cut, the fabrics, the dessins, very typical for that period in fashion. It’s time frame I absolutely adore ever since first grade. Unfortunately I didn’t have this mindset twenty years ago and assumed this wasn’t for me. By now I know that it’s a matter of shop your shape. You can imagine how happy I am that now this is the trend of this season, plus it’s also available in larger sizes. No more size issues when it comes to your favourite style!
By now I’m in my 32nd week of pregnancy and my belly -and the change to get dressed properly- is growing every day. Right now it’s a matter of simply trying things on, check what makes me feel happy and which feels good to wear. Comfort is very important to me, has always been but now even more so. Fabrics are always important, there must be an amount of stretch. Also my body temperature is up so I love to layer up, which is perfect for this time of year with the changing weather.
I’ve often worn this dress already even though I just got it last month! It’s one of my favourite garments right now because it’s comfortable and so easy to combine. During the Indian summer days I’ve worn it with bare legs and ankle boots. In the mean time it got a lot colder and tights are a necessity, paired with boots though sneakers are a fun option as well. What I love about the pied-de-poule check dessin is that it’s so versatile in combining. Now I often wear it with this lime yellow cardigan, because I love how the color pops and the structure is visible. Though fire red or bright pink is a cute combination as well!
The dress is made of a heavy jersey so because of the stretch material it wear very comfortable. This is a EU size 48 which fits like a UK 20 and is perfectly snug in the right places. How cute are the trumpet sleeves? Which by the way don’t stop me from wearing it with a cardigan. I’ve combined the dress a bit more dressed this way though I’ve also worn it with casual sneakers and a biker jacket.
Underneath I’m wearing a pair of 20 denier tights because I like the slight transparency. The over knee boots cover up most of my legs. These are from last year by the way and not even wide fit, just regular collection. So you see, just give it a try! The cardigan is a size 3 which fits me perfectly. Its also made of a heavy jersey and I love the structured effect. It’s also fun to combine with a different check, or leopard print!
