The scuba trend is here. What is scuba, is it plus size proof? Let’s find out.
What is scuba?
I will not bother you with too much technical details. Scuba is a double-knit fabric generally made from polyester and lycra. The best way to describe it is that it looks like neoprene, that which we know of a wetsuit for watersports. However scuba is of course a lot lighter but still has a lot of body. It doesn’t wrinkle and stands off the body when wearing. You can find scuba fabrics in the shops in different variations. From flowy printed fabrics to bulky, jacquard like designs. The fabric is mostly used for oversized tops, peplums and skirts.
Fashion tips
The fabrics’ characteristics is that it stands. So in general it will not really slim you down. You have to be careful with this garment and really wear it the right way. Make sure that somewhere on your outfit your plus points are being emphasized. The skater dress or skirt can look broad on the hips, so make sure it’s fitted on the waist. The peplum top or wide top will have the same effect on the belly so wear it with a skinny jeans or fitted skirt. What’s most important is that you feel happy in it, then you will look georgous anyway.
