Last week I attended the grand opening of a new plus size store,
A. Josephs in Rotterdam

The passionate Adiam invited me to come over to the grand opening of her new plus size store. Even the invitation in the mail looked classy and got me curious. Last week on Saturday afternoon we drove to Rotterdam to the classy Van Oldenbarneveltstraat and there it was, with all the festive balloons.

I met up with blogger Margo from hetismarg.nl and we went in. Immediately there was a warm welcome. The sparkling people and especially Adiam who welcomed us. All excited we started to look around and make photos. All was taken care of: extra large fitting rooms, good lightning, a big table for when you want to shop with your man. I spotted the brands Elvi, Junarose and Carmakoma. My conclusion after seeing this shop and meeting the passionate owner is:

“ When something comes from the heart it speaks for itself “ 

One of the reasons why the shop was possible is because of the Bart de Graaff Foundation. Adiam has kidney failure and is working hard to stay healthy. She had a really rough time trying to cope with her decease and gained a lot of weight during the process. Though she has already lost a lot of that weight, she noticed how difficult it was to shop nice garments being a plus size. For a long time she had a dream of starting her own fashion business, because when she would travel to the US or the UK she could shop so many lovely things. She wanted to bring this back to Holland as well. About three years ago she entered her -long time ready- business plan to a completion which being held every year by this Foundation. She was one of the lucky ones who were picked three years ago. All this time she has been working on her dream and last weekend it came through. Thanks to a lot of help from friends & family, but mainly because of the foundation who helped her on her way with all the important stuff behind a company. By the looks of it, it’s going to be a great succes! Classy and sophisticated. Of course I have tried some of the new collection immediately but I will show you these photos in another post.
